DirecTV gives away a free high definition receiver if I am not mistaken when you sign up with them. You also receive a satellite dish and three other receivers for other rooms in your place of residence. Remember, you need a television capable of showing high definition in order to truly see a high definition picture.

Certain channels are always included in satellite packages. These channels include Showtime, HBO, and others, which can all be delivered to you in high definition format. If you want to go an extra mile though, Dish Network offers a specific high definition package which includes a variety of channels and programming. These include entertainment channels, news, sports, information, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, and Major League Baseball. It is up to you to decide whether or not you want this package as it does not come standard.

A variety of other channels are also given in a high definition format. These include Universal, which shows films and series on the TV. Shows which they air include CSI and many types of daily shows. Sports are also included sometimes as well. The Discovery Channel shows topics on nature, travel, the world, technology, and all sorts of science related shows. Nothing beats this picture in high definition format.
