Dish Network
The Echostar company better known as Dish Network is a DBS service. What that means is that it is a direct broadcast satellite company which gives all of its customers a digital signal upon which they receive their television shows. Dish Network is the only real main competitor for DirecTV. The two companies are always in competition and I think that is a good thing for the economy. It is great to see competition.
Dish Network started off with an 18 inch satellite just like DirecTV did. It was known as the Dish 300 and it allowed its customers to receive a signal from just one location in the sky. Today, Dish Network now has a 20 inch satellite dish in use. This dish is known as the Dish 500. It allows the customer base to receive signals from more than once location at the same time. The Dish 500 and its counterpart the SuperDish are gaining in popularity these days as the direct broadcast service company grows and expands.
Early in the year 2003 Dish Network started to provide a satellite TV service to commercial US airlines. Following shortly after in 2004, an entire line up of Sirius Satellite Radio was added to the pack of Dish Network capability. Dish Network is in partnership with a company called Starband. They deliver broadband satellite internet alongside the television service.
There is a certain show on every month called Charlie Chat. This show features news about the company and upcoming events, hardware and new channels. The company’s CEO Charlie Ergen hosts the show himself.
Later in the year 2005, Dish Network added another 10 channels to the Voom selection of viewing. A degree of 61.5 was needed in order to capture this viewing. Dish Network is favored by companies on Wall Street and was the official satellite TV supplier for Congress. Their signal is 100% digital and their system is 100% free.
Dish Network has their headquarters based in Englewood, Colorado. Their corporation, EchoStar, is a public corporation with just around twenty one thousand employees. They are a DBS service which provides a digital signal of television to all of their viewers both nationally and internationally.
EchoStar or Dish Network as most folks say, have been around for quite a long time. Over their twenty five years of doing business here in the United States and around the world they have accomplished numerous achievements. They were the first company to provide a receiver for satellite viewing at less than $200 dollars.
They were the first company to produce a UHF remote control. They were the first to provide nationwide installation for all of their viewers. They offered the first MPEG4 high definition and DVR satellite receiver. They also were the first company to offer local channels to all 50 states here in the US. Last but not least, they were the first to offer an Integrated Receiver Descrambler for C-band. As you can see, Dish Network is an evolving company with their goals and traditions set high. They are here to stay and are here to provide their customer base with the best possible service available.
